PeaPod- Weather you are travelling to the beach, the mountains, or anywhere in between, you will be grateful to have the PeaPod along. Serving as a bed, a shield from the sun, and a simple play mat, the PeaPod is a travelling mother's helper. I first used this product for a month long vacation near the mountains. My five month old slept in it nightly, and it travelled with us during the day so we could set up naps on the go. It protects from mosquitoes and is one of the best baby items I ever purchased. Given that it folds up into a small round circle, it's also great for packing in a suitcase and not adding extra airline weight or baggage.

Baby Carrier- Torn between a baby carrier and a stroller for plane travel? A baby carrier wins hands down for ease of use through an airport and throughout a trip. While you can no longer carry a baby in the carrier through security, the ease of having the carrier in the airport is much better than that of a bulky stroller. In addition, you will have your baby close at hand for all of your strolls throughout your vacation spot and don't have to deal with strollers in an unknown location which may have bumpy streets, narrow passageways or a lot of stairs.

Travel High Chair Seat- What a fabulous invention! Two new brands (My Little Seat and Trendykid) have this fabric based chair that is lightweight and very portable. Now your baby can sit up to eat spoon fed meals or to help you have hands free time with baby near by. This is a much needed product for travelling moms.

Sound Machine- When you are in new places, there are lots of new sounds that can be difficult for a new baby to process. Having a portable sound machine on hand can help block out the strange noises while baby sleeps. Given all of the other disruptions, this product may be a lifesaver in keeping baby well rested and ready to go another day.

Foldable Play Mat- Babies still need stimulation and room to play, so a portable play mat is a great thing to bring along. Many can fold small enough to fit in a suitcase and can be set up on a floor in a hotel room or at a relative or friend's house. Your baby will enjoy having a place of her own even on the road.

Bottles/ Formula- One of the hardest parts about travelling with an infant is ensuring you have enough bottles and formula for the trip. Knowing that your routine will be disrupted, you must plan to have enough bottles to get you until you are able to wash and sterilize them again. Plan ahead for how and where that will happen. It may be an idea to pack an extra bottle in your carryon and enough formula for a delay in take off from your flight.

First Aid Kit with Medications and Thermometer- No one wants to be stranded in a different place with a sick baby, but it happens more often than you think. Be prepared for a small illness with your own medical kit and include basics like gas drops, infant Tylenol, an aspirator, and an easy to use thermometer. Also keep your pediatrician's phone number on hand so you are able to call in if you feel like things are a little more serious. It you choose to bring the kit on the airplane rather than packing it in your luggage, make sure to separate your liquids and have them in a clear plastic bag for security.

Foldable Change Pad- When you are on the road, you do not want to be at the mercy of public change rooms nor left to use the floor of a hotel room just to change a diaper. A small, portable change pad will be a lifesaver in many situations so that you are able to make changes quick and easy and get about your vacation.

Baby Toiletries- You will want to have a small bag of all of your home favorites on hand when you travel. Make sure to have enough shampoo, soap, lotion, diaper rash creme, wipes, and diapers to last the length of your trip. While you are able to buy many of these things wherever you travel, moms feel it is far more convenient and easier to bring them along.

green spouts Stacking Cup Set- A solution for older babies who are starting to eat and need more than a simple play mat for entertainment. These cups can be used to put food into and to feed your little one, but they are also a great toy for entertaining babies. A toy with a purpose is always good, but it's even better when you are limited with space on a trip.
