Floor Cushions- A step up from the bean bag, but more portable than a chair, many moms reported that their sons loved having cushions in their rooms. It’s a great way to host get togethers, and you can easily pick cushions that match the decor of your son’s room. They are also much easier to clean than a big bean bag or a full size chair.
Gaming Chair- Boys enjoy gaming and need a comfortable place to sit while doing so. Gaming chairs are designed to help give the ultimate gaming experience. Many are made in a U-shaped, ergonomic design to make sure that hours of sitting and gaming do not affect body mechanics. If your son is always on his gaming system, find a chair that fits his body so that he can take pleasure in knowing that while he is playing his favorite video games, he will also be sitting in his favorite chair.
Lap Desk- Rooms get cluttered no matter how hard we try to avoid it. A lap desk can be a great solution for your son who literally has no room to get his work done. Lap desks can be easily stored under a bed or in a drawer, and can be pulled out to complete homework, to draw, or to read books. With many designs and structures, there is sure to be one out there that will be perfect for your son.
Storage Bins- Does your son have too much stuff and not enough room to store it? If closets, dressers, and drawers are not enough for his things, try taking advantage of some storage bins. Bins can be stored underneath beds, in closets, and hidden out of the way so that they don’t add clutter, but help make the mess disappear.
Alarm Clock- An alarm clock is a necessity for any child’s room. Whether your son needs to wake up for school, sports, or just get into a good sleep routine, an alarm clock is the best way to do so. Look for an alarm clock that allows for personalized settings such as snooze time, numerous alarm times, CD or radio input, and volume settings. You won’t have to worry about your deep sleeper not getting out of bed on time anymore with an alarm clock that is personalized to suit his wake up needs.
Laundry Hamper- This is just a practical suggestion that moms mentioned time and again. Instead of your son having piles of clothes covering his bedroom floor, get a laundry hamper so that he can get into the habit of throwing all of his dirty clothes into one location. Laundry hampers should be easy transfer from the bedroom to the laundry room, so look for a large hamper that is made out of a material that is easy to carry
iPod Docking Station- A must for anyone with an iPod. While it is nice to have a portable music player, it is even better to be able to play all those tunes at home too. While most are not terribly fancy, look for good quality speakers to get the most bang for your buck.
Calendar- Dates and times are not necessarily the easiest thing for boys to remember. That’s why a calendar is such an essential product for many boys. Help him learn how to use it to plan ahead for sports, school, and fun. Especially important is picking one with a theme that your son likes so that he will be more likely to use it.
Posters- A growing child wants to express himself through his personal interests. Your son has his own unique taste in music, art, video games and movies. With posters he can convey his interests and allow himself to introduce others to some of his favorites. Displaying posters in his room will add the personal touch and individuality that he is looking for in his bedroom.
Lamps- An easy way to add ambiance and personalization to a bedroom, lamps are a great addition to any room. Not only does a lamp offer a practical purpose for reading and doing homework, it also sets the atmosphere for decorations. Lamps come in many designs and colors to match any themed room.
